If Spiritual Direction seeks to answer the questions, “Where am I?” and “Where’s God taking me?”, Christian Life Coaching attempts to answer the question, “What am I going to do about it?” It is about your intentional response to God’s “true north” for you in the next season of life.
Christian Life Coaching is a collaborative process helping clients gain clarity through self-awareness, brainstorming, strategy, and accountability towards action. Coaching builds self-awareness through the use of open-ended questions and active listening. Coaches do not instruct clients in the “right” answers, or “mentor” them to do it the coach’s way, but draw out of the client what is already brewing on the inside; to help them discover it, own it, translate it into action steps, and support the client through implementation.
WHO IS CHRISTIAN LIFE COACHING FOR?
People from every possible age, background, and occupation seek coaching, but they all have one thing in common: a desire to reflect more of the glory of God in their everyday lives and environments.
Some clients feel “stuck” or “off course”. Others are looking to choose the best over the good. Others are seeking clarity and greater expression in their unique calling. Still others are beginning to realize how the unhealed past is limiting the present and impacting the future. The list of reasons is really as endless as the individuals.
But, in almost any situation, coaching can help a client move forward in a positive way, while developing self-awareness, overcoming patterns of self-limiting belief and counter-productive behavior, catalyzing powerful and lasting transformation.
WORKING IN A COACHING RELATIONSHIP, CLIENTS CAN:

SEE WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
Charlie is a wonderful coach and confidant. I was definitely having difficulty during an important life transition – or rather, several simultaneously – and it was great to have an objective yet empathetic third party to help me. And that’s a big deal for me because I am pretty independent and hate asking for help. During the course of my six sessions with Charlie, I was able to address and suture some lingering emotional wounds, pick a new path to follow towards future goals and successes and significantly reduce my anxiety. Basically, I came out of it confidently with a new brand image and I feel more prepared for the rest of my life.” – Miranda Peterson, Spartanburg, SC
Charlie is gifted in abetting anyone who finds themselves ‘stuck’, ‘leaning’, or at a turning point in life, seeking a new refreshing start. I have found him to be an intellectual with an innate competency for clarity. Charlie’s humor and keen wit are also an enormous asset to constructing rapid rapport with people, as to ‘get down to business’ without ‘candy coating’ conversation.” – Todd Hare, Johnson City, TN
I have been having a wonderful experience with Charlie. He has not only become my coach, but also my spiritual mentor. I have never had either or thought I needed one. I have realized that I was mistaken. My personal and spiritual life has increased by leaps and bounds. I am more focused on what I need in life; a very healthy experience.” – Jim Johnson, Spartanburg, SC
Charlie pulled stuff out of me that I needed to articulate. Without his help these core values would have drifted in and out of focus. Instead he gave them words and themes that could be translated into action. Whenever I’m facing a new challenge he taught me to line it up with my values and recognize what fits and what has to go. Only a true professional and friend like Charlie can make it a reality. He is exceptional.” – Matt Meline, Des Moines, IA
Charlie has been an incredible blessing to me, coaching and exhorting me through a difficult time in my ministry. His wisdom and support were essential in my working through some significant challenges. Charlie asks the right questions, at the right time, and brought clarity to the situation and allowed me to see a way forward. He has consistently both challenged and encouraged me in personal spiritual growth and leadership.” – John Greene, Asheville, NC
One of the great joys that I have had in my professional experience has been working with Charlie. During a difficult time in my professional development I found him to be both insightful and available, and as a result I was able to successfully navigate the process that I found myself in. I would highly recommend anyone who is seeking personal growth or feeling stuck professionally to consult with Charlie and allow him to join you in the process of discovery.” – Terry Troyer, Newport News, VA
Charlie helped me to focus on the important ideas behind success, happiness, and my profession. He was not only a good listener, but prompted enough questions to focus me on the issues at hand. I will definitely use Charlie Vensel again.” – Bill Thompson, Campbellsville, KY
