WHAT IS THIS 4Rs THING?
RelationshipWe get to know each other by connecting with men just like you around the kinds of things guys love. We live into this reality in the Base Camp phase.
RescueAuthentic community helps push us to be the best, “As iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another.” The goal is to help each other recover our hearts, to become free and settled men with nothing to hide, nothing to prove, and nothing to fear. We practice this reality in the Band of Brothers phase.
RestorationOur lives are filled with places we chose the good, or not so good, and surrendered the best to the Enemy. That skews our perception of Jesus, distorts our sense of self, and negatively impacts those around us. We become aware of these things and pursue wholeness (healing) and holiness (maturity) in the Call To Arms phase.
ReleaseThe goal of all discipleship is ultimately, “for the sake of others.” As we become more of who God created us to be through rescue and restoration, we can begin to fight for the hearts of others through the overflow of the life we are finding in Jesus, rather than out of obligation. And, we can do it with power and with spiritual authority. We turn outward in the Deployment and Big Guns phases.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M MAKING PROGRESS?We use a step-by-step discipleship process that we call Phases. Each phase steps up in intensity, leading you into a fuller expression of who you’ve been created to be. If you want to progress, just keep moving through the phases.
WHAT MAKES YOUR MEN’S MINISTRY DIFFERENT?The reason most men’s ministries fail is simple, they ignore what is deep and true to a man’s heart and try to shape him up through various forms of pressure and guilt. Too many messages are basically, “You must try harder and be better.” We believe that is putting the cart before the horse. At its core, Christianity begins with an invitation to desire, not a to-do list. God instills deep desires in our hearts for adventure, battle, and beauty. We ignite these desires in the men around us in everything we do. As we do, we hope they will discover something profound about the heart of God and the heart he gave them as men, leaving them eager to recover a life of freedom, passion, and adventure. New 4RMations exists to help men get their hearts back. It is first about identity, then everything else falls into place.
DO YOU PROVIDE ANYTHING FOR WOMEN?Yes. While we are primarily a men’s ministry, we presently offer Christian Coaching, Spiritual Direction, and Relationship Enrichment services to women. About half of the people that participate in those services are female. From time to time, we offer coed and couples’ events. In time, as the Spirit leads, and as the right leaders come forward, we may offer more services and events for women.
ARE YOU RELIGIOUS?If you are asking if we affirm the Christian Faith, then yes. If you are asking if we are a church, then no. We believe in the ministry of the local church, but we’ve found great freedom in not being tied to denominational talking points or bound by the preconceptions of a church-like model. We do not set out to be a stumbling block to anyone, but in full disclosure, some of the topics we delve into, some of the language that goes with that, and some of the freedom we enjoy might not sit well with some church-goers. In being who we are, we recognize that we are not for everyone. We trust you and your walk with God to sort that out.
ISN’T “NON-DENOMINATIONAL” A HIP WAY TO SAY “BAPTIST”?We don’t know, but we are truly non-denominational. More accurately, we are multi-denominational. Baptists, Presbyterians, Anglicans, Methodists, Catholics, and Pentecostals attend our events, and there is quite a diversity of denominations on our Board of Directors. Sticking to the stuff that all Christians can agree on works out very well.
DO YOU HAVE A STATEMENT OF FAITH?Yes. Our Statement of Faith is best summed up in the words of the Nicene Creed.
ARE YOU A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?Yes, we are incorporated as non-profit religious organization in the state of South Carolina. We are also a federally recognized 501(c)(3) organization, permitted to receive tax-deductible donations and issue annual charitable giving statements to our donors.
WHAT RESOURCES DO YOU USE?Quality resources are no replacement for God-given insight, but they are an important component of spiritual growth. We employ a number of well-respected tools in our discipleship process.
