Find yourself wondering, “Where and I?” and “Where’s God taking me?” Spiritual Direction seeks to answer those questions, helping you discover and respond to God’s presence and activity in your life whatever the circumstances may be. While getting your bearings, it also aims to shift the focus away from the external demands of our lives to places of inner renewal, to recover a sense of “being” in the midst of “doing” on the journey.
Rooted in biblical theology and thousands of years of tradition, Spiritual Direction refers to an ongoing relationship between a spiritual director and a directee. The real director is God, while the spiritual director is more of a facilitator, pointing to God’s activity on the directee’s behalf.
New 4RMations operates under the assumption that God has always been at work calling and shaping his people, and continues to do so with a purpose in mind; namely that they become all that they were created to be, as Irenaeus (c. 210) said, “fully alive.” We believe that is our highest form of worship.
The process involves intentional conversation aimed at getting beneath the surface and into the inner workings of the soul, inviting the directee into a deeper and more authentic relationship with God, self, and others, by stripping away that which encumbers, to release that which was intended. In the process, directees gain insight into what God is doing in and through them, and likely, intends for them going forward.

SEE WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
As a result of Charlie’s work with me, I see spiritual formation taking place in 3 areas: 1) I’ve taken more initiative to be a spiritual leader in my home and my wife notices the difference, 2) My prayer life is now a daily priority before I start my day, and 3) I’ve become a stronger leader in the ministry where I serve.” – Curtis Thomas, Ohio
Charlie helped me heal, and through renewed intimacy with God, gain fresh awareness of His path for me. Nearly three years had passed since I left the ministry. It felt like a great death to me and I felt so alone – like I had wandered into the middle of a dark desert, exhausted, disillusioned, naked and afraid. It seemed like I would continue wading through this wilderness of disappointment and numbness forever. I was growing increasingly desperate to find signs of life – any evidence of hope. Then, on a very desperate day, my wife prayerfully began searching for help, and found Charlie online.
I contacted him and asked him why try as I might I just couldn’t spin my wheels out of this rut. As I spoke with him, I found such authenticity and genuine empathy. Charlie could connect with my desert because he had been there before. He spoke not just as a professionally trained coach, but as one who has wrestled with God and now walks with a noticeable limp. He didn’t just offer theories and exercises but deep counsel forged through the fire of experience. Charlie helped me discover a new path because a wise guide had once helped him through the thick brush and darkness to find his road.
He offered this wise counsel, ‘Matt, you can’t lead someone where you’ve never been. I’ve been where you are and believe I can help you get where you want to go.’ In the very first session, I began to glean deep truths about the places I was stuck and move toward new areas of freedom and hope in my life. After six sessions with Charlie I feel like a new man – a man with hope. I gained new language, new tools, and am celebrating exciting new areas of growth. Charlie has helped me develop a new awareness of who I am, my authentic self, and what healthy living looks like for me – and this is just the beginning. I am excited about my journey and am so glad that he is walking beside me. Thank you so much Charlie!” – Matt Bomhoff, Fort Worth, TX
Thanks to Charlie I feel I am making great strides not only in my walk with God, but in becoming the man God meant for me to be.” – Jason Wilson, Spartanburg, SC
